Ask me all about Mat Man's Skeleton!!! Today we visited with Mat Man, again! We built him very quickly and talked all about the different details we need when we draw a person. Then we danced and sang our favorite Halloween song..."Dem Bones!" Click on the button to hear it!!! Next we began asking great questions about Mat Man's bones. We looked closely at several books and talked about our own skeletons. Then we began creating... What do you think Mat Man's skeleton would look like? We had so much fun!!! In fact, we are still working!!! We have to finish them tomorrow!!! Ask me all about the Warren School Carrot Cake Cook Off!!!!!!!!! We won!!!!!!!!! Here is our winning recipe!!!
Kindergarten’s Carrot Cupcakes (We are working on the letters K & C!) 3 cups grated carrots 4 eggs 1 cup crushed pineapple ⅓ cup vegetable oil 2 cups flour 1 ½ sugar 2 teaspoons baking powder 2 teaspoons baking soda 1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice Baked at 350* for 15-20 minutes Cool until room temperature Cream Cheese Frosting Recipe: 8 oz container of ⅓ less fat cream cheese (softened) 1 cup powdered sugar ½ teaspoon vanilla extract We made our Carrot Cake healthier by substituting crushed pineapple for over half of the oil needed, adding less sugar, and by using farm fresh eggs. We also substituted light cream cheese for whole cream cheese in the frosting and did not use butter at all!!! We think our cupcakes are very YUMMY!!! Ask me all about our visit to the Warren Public Library! We shared a spooky Halloween story with Mrs. Cupo. Then we made our very own dancing Jack-O-Lanterns!!! They bounced in the air the whole way back to school!!!
Ask me all about Sounds sensible! It is a fun phonemic awareness program that we work on with Mrs. Woodington and Mrs. Brady!!! We get to clap out syllables, catch rhymes for Mother Goose, find words that sound the same & different...and we get to work on our letters!!!
We work very hard during Literacy stations!!! Ask me all about our "Good Morning" song! We just love it! We sing it every morning as part of our Morning Meeting! We clap, we dance, we sing, and we are even learning many of the words in Sign Language!
Click on the picture below to hear our song! Be careful though, it may get stuck in your head!!! Ask me all about our new rhyming game! Mrs. Brady shared a new game with us today! We have been working so hard on rhyming and counting syllables. We had to match words that rhyme...and then the Old Lady (From There was an old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly) ate them!!! It was so much fun!
Ask me all about Lexia! It is a fun computer program that we started playing in Kindergarten. Yesterday we went to the library and we used the computers to try it out. Today we got to play it in our classroom on the iPads!!! We are going to be working on Lexia several times a week....and soon we will be able to do it at home, as well!!! Ask me all about our new math game! It is called Build It! We all got a chance to play it during Math workshop today. We love it!!!
Ask me all about our trip to the Warren Library! Today we walked together to the Library to meet with Mrs. Cupo, the children's librarian! Even Mr. Hibbert came! We sat together and read stories about Fall. We shared our thoughts and feelings, and we talked about all of the weather changes going on around us. Then we made some beautiful leaf rubbings. We used fall colors and many different types of leaves. We worked very carefully! We had so much fun! We can't wait to go back!!! Ask me all about my name! We have been working hard on writing and identifying the letters in our names. Together we collected tons of fresh fall leaves. We used a glue bottle, just like our pencils, to practice our letter formation. Then we "pinched and pulled" the fall leaves into tiny pieces and glued them to our names. It was hard and we had to work carefully! But we did it!!!
Ask me all about our new Jack-in-the-box game!!! We have to clap out how many syllables are in each word. Rhyming and Clapping Syllables will help us learn to read!
"Clap your hands And do a cheer! How many syllables do you hear?" Ask me all about the number FOUR!!!! Today we worked to find all of the different ways to put stars in a group of 4. Then we created the 4 page in our counting book! We filled in 4 on a tens frame. We made 4 with linker cubes. We even showed what 4 of something looks like....4 pumpkins, 4 apples, 4 tractors, 4 blue dots...Then we shared our hard work!!! Click on the number 4 to hear the "Number 4" song we sang all day long!!!! (Watch out....it can get stuck in your head!!!) Ask me all about the counting book we are making! Today we worked on the number 3!!! We found all different ways to group 3 dots (no matter how they are grouped, it is always 3!!!) and we created the 3 page in our books! Then we used (homemade...thank you, Mrs. Wright) playdoh to build the number 3. We practiced singing the HWT song..."Around the tree, around the tree, that's how you make the number 3!" We also danced around the room to the song "Three is the Magic Number" Click on the #3 below to hear the it!
