We read several special stories and made predictions. We even took a survey to see who thought the groundhog would see his shadow on Monday! Then we made our own groundhog shadows...ask me how we did it!!!
Ask me all about Groundhog's Day....and shadows! Did you know that a shadow is made when something blocks the light? The Groundhog is afraid of his shadow. We learned that there is an old legend all about it!

Ask me all about Reader's Workshop! Today we talked about our reading strategies. We learned that we have special reading muscles in our brain and the best way to make them stronger is to Read, Read, Read!!! Just like when playing a sport, you have to practice to get better! We LOVE curling up with our Just Right books!!!
Ask me all about my day! We were all so happy to be back together! Mrs. Brady was away at a conference and then the snow...oh the snow!!!! We love playing in it, but we miss our friends and routines so much when we can't come to school! Today we played new math games, found new sight word spots by our classroom door, and ALMOST finished our interactive read aloud, Lady Lollipop by Dick King-Smith. We only have one chapter to go! We all left school today wanting to hurry back! What a great feeling! Ask me all about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the "Crayon Box that Talked"! Today we discussed why we have a three day weekend. We watched a special BrainPop Jr. Podcast all about Dr. King's life. We talked about how different things were back then and what Dr. King and many others did to change them. Our Word of the Day was INCLUDE! Click on the button below to watch it! We also read a special poem called "The Crayon Box that Talked". It was all about a grumpy box of crayons that did not get along. But when they saw what they could make by working together they realized that every one of them are special. We made our own Box of Crayons and we got to pick what color we would be!
Click on the button below to watch the story! Ask me all about my favorite Just Right Books!!! Today during independent reading we noticed that our book buckets are getting VERY full!!! So we read, read, and read some more...then we chose TWO of our favorite Just Right books to bring home and share with you before we clean out our buckets and say good bye to them. I am also bringing home a special strategy book! Ask me all about it!!!
Ask me all about my day! We are all SO happy to be back together! We had a busy day of reading, writing, math, creating and celebrating (We filled the Warm Fuzzy Jar!)
Ask me all about our favorite math game! It's called Racing Bears!!! (Although we like to call it Racing Gummy Bears, after our favorite dance song!)
We have to roll the dice and move the bears, adding on each turn to try and make ten!!! We've played it on the Smartboard and now we are playing on our own little game boards...it is so much fun!!! Ask me all about my reading muscles! Every day, right before lunch we curl up and read. We find a special spot, with our Just Right book bucket, and we practice. We use our reading strategies, we read to partners or stuffed friends, and we show off! It is so much fun!
Ask me all about my day! We were so busy sharing stories about our Winter Break that we started the day with writing because we had SO much to say!!! It was great to see each other again...and it was also great to get back into our daily routine!!!
