Today we revisited an old friend of ours named Pigeon. He is the main character in many of Mo Willems' famous books. We reread Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus, but we listened to the story with our "writing ears". We wanted to see if Pigeon had good reasons for us to let him do what he wanted. We decided that he wasn't very good at defending his ideas.
We learned that when writers are being persuasive, they have to prove that something is a good idea. If we are trying to solve a problem or convince someone to do something, it is important to tell WHY!!!!!
